SS-110 Avalanche Barriers
Avalanche prevention structures (avalanche barriers) made with wire rope nets have been used in many countries in and outside Europe since 1951. Avalanche protection structures made of ropes and steel wire nets, whose posts are anchored to the ground at right angles to the slope, reach down to the snow surface and form a protective surface. The protective surface creates a retaining effect that can prevent the possible creep and glide of the snow on the ground surface.
Avalanches can be prevented at the release zone before they break away, or snow movement is limited to manageable amounts
